The Arts program at Lang allows students to explore visual and performing arts within a liberal arts framework. Bridge scholarly research with creative expression while harnessing the arts as a means for personal growth and social engagement. Select from two focus areas: Visual Studies or Arts in Context.
These concentrations encourage students to transcend conventional artistic boundaries, using creative expression as a vehicle for both self-exploration and societal understanding. At the heart of The Arts curriculum lies the innovative Lang Interarts (LINA) program, offering interdisciplinary courses that combine seminar discussions with hands-on learning, fostering cross-disciplinary artistic exploration.
Lang Arts students can access an extensive range of arts courses across The New School, including offerings from Parsons School of Design and the College of Performing Arts. Renowned visiting artists interact with students through workshops and public events like the ArtWorks series.
