The Master of Applied Geography (MAG) with a thesis option is tailored for students seeking to apply their geographic expertise through independent research projects. Working in close partnership with a faculty advisor and thesis committee, students receive essential guidance throughout their research journey. This program mandates 30 graduate credits (including 6 thesis credits), an approved final thesis, and a successful defense. Qualification Requirements

A student seeking admission to graduate school at NMSU must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution. The academic program of the completed degree should be equivalent to a comparable NMSU degree's requirements.
Students must send official transcripts from their prior colleges or universities directly to the Graduate School.
An international applicant whose grade-point average (or its equivalent) is greater than or equal to 3.0., from a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
