A physics or engineering physics bachelor's degree lays the foundation for diverse career paths in industry, education, military service, government roles, or pursuing advanced studies in physics or engineering. This program equips graduates with essential skills that physics alumni consistently rank as crucial for their professional success: analytical problem-solving capabilities, computational proficiency, mathematical expertise, hands-on laboratory experience, and comprehensive physics knowledge. New and transfer students must arrange an orientation session with either the department chair or undergraduate program coordinator prior to their initial semester at NMSU. Each student will receive guidance from a dedicated physics faculty advisor regarding academic planning, career development opportunities, internship programs, cooperative education options, and related academic matters.
