A geology degree opens doors to diverse career paths. The BS Geology program offers three specialized tracks. The Geological Sciences concentration follows a classic geology curriculum, combining geology courses with calculus, physics, and chemistry. This path prepares students for graduate studies and professional opportunities in industry, academia, government, and policy sectors. The Earth and Environmental Systems option blends geology coursework with environmental studies, economics, and political science, equipping graduates for environmental industry roles. The Earth Science Education track combines geology and teaching courses, enabling students to qualify for New Mexico secondary school science teaching positions after completing their bachelor's degree and one additional year in the College of Education.
