A geology degree opens doors to diverse career paths. The BS Geology program offers three specialized tracks. The Geological Sciences concentration follows a classic geology curriculum, combining geology courses with calculus, physics, and chemistry. This path prepares students for graduate studies and professional opportunities in industry, academia, government, and policy sectors. The Earth and Environmental Systems option blends geology coursework with environmental, economic, and political studies, equipping graduates for environmental industry roles. The Earth Science Education track combines geology and teaching courses, qualifying students to teach science in New Mexico middle and high schools after earning their bachelor's degree and completing one year of graduate-level education training.
