The Communication Disorders program offers focused training for students aspiring to become Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLP-As) or pursue advanced studies in speech-language pathology or audiology. Learners enhance their theoretical understanding of normal communication development, speech disorders, and treatment approaches through hands-on observation at the department's Edgar R. Garrett Speech and Hearing Center, supplemented by digital clinical training options like virtual patient simulations. Program participants must achieve a minimum grade of B in all Speech Language Hearing Sciences (SPHS) coursework and maintain an overall GPA of 3.2 or above to continue in the program.
