The Associate of Arts in World Languages and Global Studies offers an interdisciplinary approach to fostering global perspectives and cross-cultural appreciation by learning one modern language besides English, including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish. This program combines language exploration with multicultural studies, connecting linguistic skills to diverse societies worldwide and within the U.S. It equips graduates to thrive in international environments by developing language fluency and cultural awareness, enabling meaningful connections in fields like International Business, Government, Education, Tourism, Arts, Media, and more. Through electives, learners can align their language studies with regional or global cultural studies or international affairs.
After completing the program, graduates will be able to:
Achieve competency in a non-English language
Gain insight into at least one foreign culture
Understand the relationship between language and cultural identity
Identify cultural influences across various fields
Prospective language majors should consult an advisor to ensure they meet transfer requirements for their chosen institution.
