The Associate in Arts in Journalism for Transfer offers comprehensive training in the field while exposing students to journalism and multimedia platforms. This program allows learners to explore journalistic writing techniques for both traditional and digital media outlets. Graduates will acquire fundamental competencies required to continue their education in Journalism at a four-year institution. Those who complete this degree can either transfer to a university or seek employment in their community. Throughout the program, participants will develop practical skills in news collection, structuring, composition, and information distribution.
To obtain an Associate in Arts degree for Transfer, students must fulfill 60 semester units transferable to the CSU system, including either the IGETC or CSU GE breadth requirements plus an 18-unit major. A minimum 2.0 GPA in all CSU-transferable courses is required, with all major courses completed at a C grade or higher. Students who earn this transfer degree are exempt from additional local graduation mandates.
