Individuals holding a bachelor's degree who wish to become teachers can enroll in the post-baccalaureate certification program. After finishing the program successfully, graduates will be referred to the New Jersey Department of Education for teacher certification. Those planning to teach in other states should consult their respective state education departments, as requirements are typically comparable. Under New Jersey's Beginning Teacher Induction Program, graduates from undergraduate or post-baccalaureate certification programs must complete one probationary year of teaching with a provisional certificate before qualifying for a permanent standard teaching certificate in New Jersey. This requirement does not apply to those who already hold a New Jersey standard certificate and are pursuing additional teaching endorsements. University-recommended candidates will obtain a Certificate of Eligibility With Advanced Standing, enabling them to pursue teaching positions in New Jersey and other states. This certification remains valid indefinitely.
