When considering healthcare professions, most individuals envision medical roles like doctors or nurses who treat patients with illnesses or injuries. Public health professionals, however, take a broader approach by focusing on entire communities—working to prevent diseases and injuries while promoting overall wellness rather than just providing treatment. The Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a Community Health Education concentration presents a comprehensive public health perspective, tackling health concerns at local, national, and international levels with a strong emphasis on social equity. This program equips aspiring community health educators with essential skills to design, execute, and assess initiatives addressing diverse challenges including cancer, obesity, sexual health, aging, violence, maternal/child wellness, substance abuse, youth health, mental wellbeing, and other critical areas. Learners will also gain expertise in developing interventions and advocating for policies that reduce health disparities across different demographic groups, ensuring equal health opportunities for all. Program alumni will pursue careers across various sectors (government institutions, community health centers, hospitals, nonprofits, businesses) while addressing different age groups, populations, and health concerns.
