The Department of Physics and Astronomy provides diverse degree pathways. Each program includes foundational courses that build essential physics knowledge while honing analytical and problem-solving abilities. Students can pursue a standard physics major, specialize in astronomy or pre-medical studies, or choose from multiple educator preparation tracks for K-12 science teaching. Our accelerated five-year programs enable students to earn both a BS in Physics and either an MS in Applied Mathematics, an MBA, a Master of Arts in Teaching (with physics/physical science certification), or a Mechanical Engineering Master's through Stevens Institute. Many undergraduate degrees naturally satisfy the Mathematics minor requirements. Interested in physics but committed to another major? A Physics minor remains an excellent option.
