Students can work toward an M.S. degree in any program offered by the Civil Engineering Department. To earn the M.S., candidates must complete at least thirty-one (31) credit hours, which includes submitting a thesis. All M.S. students are required to take one (1) credit of Seminar (ECIV 594). Additionally, every M.S. candidate must complete a research project approved by their graduate committee. Students write a thesis, present it to their committee, and defend it during an oral comprehensive exam. Near the end of their studies, M.S. candidates must pass this comprehensive examination. It's essential for students to understand both departmental and Graduate School degree requirements. Coursework is tailored individually and must be planned with approval from the student's graduate committee.
