The Master of Science in Applied Economics is an 18-24 month program featuring two semesters of coursework followed by thesis development and defense. In their initial year, students engage in intensive coursework covering microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, and econometrics, with optional supplementary classes in mathematics and statistics. The program's intimate scale results in a focused curriculum while fostering close faculty-student engagement. Each M.S. candidate must undertake an independent research project, culminating in a second-year thesis defense. Students partner with faculty to assemble a thesis committee led by a primary advisor who offers personalized mentorship regarding coursework, research, and academic concerns. Working with their committee, students identify, investigate, develop, and defend a thesis topic aligned with their academic interests to fulfill degree requirements.
