The Graduate Programs in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry primarily award Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, though we are currently accepting direct applications for Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in these fields. Our twenty actively researching faculty specialize in analytical, biochemistry, computational, inorganic, organic, materials, and physical chemistry. They possess diverse and complementary expertise spanning chemical synthesis, microbiological techniques, molecular structure analysis, spectroscopic methods, and reaction mechanisms. Our department fosters highly collaborative research, providing students with interdisciplinary opportunities both within the university and internationally.
A bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited, government-recognized university. These degrees are generally four-year-long programs. B average or higher from your undergraduate study (3.0/4.0 GPA, or equivalent).
TOEFL total score of 90 is required with a minimum speaking score of 26 to qualify for admission to our programs and for a teaching assistantship. A total minimum score of 7.0 is required on the IELTS exam and a speaking component score of 8.0 to qualify for a teaching assistantship.
