The program is founded on extensive research and rigorous coursework typically spanning four years of full-time study. Participants need to complete a minimum of 60 post-baccalaureate credit hours, with at least 18 credits dedicated to dissertation work.
All candidates must enroll in AMST 501 (Methods in American Studies) and AMST 502 (Research and Writing in American Studies). Further course selections will be made collaboratively between the student, their committee chair, and committee members.
B.A. or M.A. degree in an American Studies-related discipline.
