The Certificate of Applied Science in CNC Machine Technology is a 36-credit program structured for completion within two semesters. This CAS equips students with the technical expertise and practical abilities needed to run computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment, including lathes, mills, precision measuring instruments, and associated attachments. They will learn to execute machining tasks like cutting, drilling, shaping, and finishing products and components. The curriculum covers CNC terminology, setup, programming, operations, troubleshooting, interpreting mechanical drawings, machining techniques, lathe and mill usage, technical math, computer skills, CAD/CAM systems, shop and safety protocols, equipment capacities, and relevant regulations and laws.
