The Latin American and Latino Studies program at Montana State equips students with interdisciplinary skills for exploring Latin American and Latino history, culture, and language. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to take courses not only in Latin American and Latino socio-cultural topics but also in related fields like sociology, political science, and gender studies. While four semesters of Spanish are typically required, students with prior Spanish language experience or heritage backgrounds may qualify for waivers. The Modern Languages & Literatures major provides four specialized tracks: Asian Studies, French & Francophone Studies, German Studies, and Hispanic Studies. Students can also pursue Latin American & Latino Studies as a minor.
