Graduate students pursuing geological engineering engage in innovative applied research addressing challenges with local, national, and frequently worldwide importance. Alumni have recently contributed to diverse initiatives spanning extraterrestrial resource extraction, hydrological studies, unmanned aerial vehicle applications, and geophysical engineering.
Geological engineering involves utilizing geological expertise to resolve practical engineering challenges. This encompasses assessing earth conditions for environmental conservation research, groundwater management and contamination studies, mineral and energy resource development, infrastructure site assessments, as well as terrain utilization and ecological impact evaluations. The master's program offers both thesis and non-thesis pathways, while the doctoral program mandates an extensive dissertation and publication of novel research findings.
