The computer engineering graduate program provides pathways to earn an MS degree (with both thesis and non-thesis tracks), a Ph.D., or a Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng) degree. These programs are available both on-campus and through remote learning platforms. Students can pursue M.S. degrees at either the Rolla campus or the St. Louis Engineering Education Center. Course selections and study plans are customized by students in consultation with their advisors and department approval.
Aligned with Missouri S&T's institutional goals, the computer engineering program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge to become leaders in addressing societal challenges through computer engineering solutions.

The electrical and computer engineering department provides graduate-level computer engineering programs, including graduate certificates, M.S. degrees (with thesis and non-thesis options), Ph.D.s, and Doctor of Engineering degrees. All programs are offered on the Rolla campus, with M.S. programs additionally available via distance learning. Doctoral programs through distance education require individual approval. Graduate studies typically involve specialization in one or more focused areas within computer engineering.

Qualification Requirements

Electrical and Computer Engineering's minimum admission requirements may exceed general university requirements. In case of discrepancies, departmental requirements supersede all others.
Recommended B.S. GPA of 3.3/4.0 for M.S. and B.S. GPA of 3.5/4.0 for Ph.D.
Recommended GRE score of Q=155, Q+V=305, and AW=3.5 (waived for Missouri S&T GPA 3.5 of ECE courses, must be > 18 hours)
For PhDs and thesis option Masters, it is strongly recommended to secure research advisor.
The nominal GPA requirement for admission to the M.S. degree program in this department is an undergraduate GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 GPA system. In evaluating the academic performance from universities that may use other grading systems, the department may rely upon statistical data gathered in analyzing academic outcomes for recent graduate students to the extent that such statistical data is available. The department will not offer graduate admissions to students who do not have the equivalent of a four year baccalaureate degree in engineering. As an example, students who have only a diploma or engineering technology degree are not eligible for admission.
