The biology department provides both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree programs. The B.S. track, chosen by most students, equips graduates for professional biology roles or advanced studies like medical school and graduate programs. A specialized medical laboratory scientist concentration is available within the B.S. program. The B.A. program features two concentrations: pre-medicine and secondary education.
Biology explores all aspects of life and living organisms, offering diverse career and academic pathways. Students can select between B.S. and B.A. degrees, each allowing specialization in three key areas: 1) cellular and molecular biology, 2) ecology, environmental studies, and conservation, or 3) health sciences.
All biology majors complete foundational courses covering introductory biology, biodiversity, cell biology, evolution, genetics, and ecology. Advanced coursework in specialized areas provides deeper knowledge, preparing students for professional careers or postgraduate studies.
