The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences provides graduate programs leading to either a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree, specializing in Horticulture. Within these Plant and Soil Sciences degrees, students can pursue an additional focus in Floral Management as a minor. This horticulture specialization enables learners to develop advanced knowledge in diverse areas including plant genetics, nutritional science, marketing strategies, and more.
The Master of Science program with a horticulture emphasis is research-focused, requiring 30 credit hours of study. This curriculum features a concluding seminar to present thesis findings, an advanced statistics course, at least 12 credits from 8000-level classes, and a final thesis defense.
