The Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures (CMLL) at Mississippi State University provides a vibrant and expanding M.A. program in Foreign Languages, covering French, German, and Spanish. Currently, CMLL delivers this program through in-person instruction.
Most M.A. candidates serve as Teaching Assistants for the department, which funds their tuition and provides a living stipend. About 30% of alumni enter teaching careers at secondary or college levels, while another 25% advance to Ph.D. programs. Some graduates have also secured international opportunities after earning their degrees. CMLL offers academic and career guidance, with faculty dedicated to tailoring the program for student success. Graduate students may assist in organizing summer study abroad initiatives alongside faculty or participate in programs with financial support for credit. The curriculum is structured to provide flexibility, enabling students to shape their Master's experience for future goals, supported by faculty committed to graduate outcomes.
