The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program offered by the Department of BCH-EPP engages with disciplines at the forefront of biological innovation. Modern molecular techniques and genetic engineering tools have empowered researchers with extraordinary capabilities to investigate life's chemical foundations. At Mississippi State, the BCH-EPP Department equips students for this dynamic field. Alongside its undergraduate biochemistry and molecular biology coursework, the department offers pathways to earn an M.S. in Agricultural Life Sciences with a Biochemistry focus, as well as a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (program details and advanced degree requirements are outlined in the Graduate Bulletin). Certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets, and diplomas from your school. Mississippi State recommends all school credentials from non-U.S. institutions be submitted through a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member (NACES member agency, https://www.naces.org/members) for a course-by-course evaluation with grade point average calculation. MSU's preferred transcript evaluation service is TEC or MyIEE.
An official ACT score of 20 or higher, or SAT score of 1030 (only if your GPA is below 3.0 based on our evaluation of your transcripts OR if you are applying for scholarships).
International undergraduate students applying to Mississippi State University must demonstrate English language proficiency in order to register for academic courses. The following methods of a demonstration are approved:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum band score of 6.5.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum 76 for Internet-based test
