Welcome to MSU's Department of Political Science and Public Administration. We're thrilled you're joining our community of around 250 political science undergraduates. Our department boasts 18 distinguished faculty members recognized for outstanding teaching (including multiple award winners), impactful research, and frequent publications. We take pride in maintaining an approachable environment for all students.
Political science courses develop analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and strong communication skills. Students appreciate our typically small class sizes, with most courses having under 30 enrollees. The program also features three annual honors course offerings. These intimate class settings foster meaningful student-professor relationships while pushing majors to refine their writing, reasoning, and self-reflection abilities.

Qualification Requirements
Certified, translated copies of all transcripts, mark sheets, and diplomas from your school. Mississippi State recommends all school credentials from non-U.S. institutions be submitted through a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member (NACES member agency, https://www.naces.org/members) for a course-by-course evaluation with grade point average calculation. MSU's preferred transcript evaluation service is TEC or MyIEE.
An official ACT score of 20 or higher, or SAT score of 1030 (only if your GPA is below 3.0 based on our evaluation of your transcripts OR if you are applying for scholarships).
International undergraduate students applying to Mississippi State University must demonstrate English language proficiency in order to register for academic courses. The following methods of a demonstration are approved:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): minimum band score of 6.5.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum 79 for Internet-based test
