Students who earn this associate degree will fulfill the lower-division prerequisites for a theatre arts major, a specialized track within theatre arts, or a comparable degree at participating California State University (CSU) institutions. After transferring to a participating CSU, students can complete their bachelor's degree with no more than 60 additional units, though some campuses may require extra lower-division coursework. Note that this degree may not suit students planning to transfer to non-participating CSUs or institutions outside the CSU system. For guidance on the optimal transfer pathway for theatre arts majors and to identify participating CSUs, students should consult a MiraCosta counselor. Earning a bachelor's in theatre arts opens doors to careers such as acting, set design, stage management, artistic roles, museum curation, photography, illustration, and related fields.
