The Communication Studies curriculum equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical methodologies to understand diverse communication forms, contexts, and their real-world applications. Learners enroll in communication classes either to transfer as communication majors or to fulfill general education prerequisites. Earning a communication bachelor's degree opens doors to professions across multiple sectors including media, education, business, government, and nonprofit organizations. This associate degree fulfills lower-division prerequisites for communication degrees or related programs at CSU institutions. After transferring, students typically need no more than 60 additional units to complete their bachelor's degree, though some CSU campuses might have additional lower-division requirements.
