Miami University boasts a longstanding commitment to developing compassionate, skilled, and innovative art educators. The Art Education Program equips students with the essential knowledge, abilities, and professional attitudes needed for teaching success. This program culminates in a Bachelor of Science in Art with Multi-Age Visual Arts Certification. Designed to qualify graduates for art teaching positions in Ohio's public school system, the program offers certification spanning early childhood through high school (ages 3-21). With accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and Ohio's Department of Education, the program meets all requirements set by Ohio's Academic Content Standards (Visual Arts) and the National Art Education Association (NAEA).
Graduates with an Art Education degree are prepared for teaching roles in various settings including public and private schools, museums, art centers, and cultural organizations. Additionally, this degree opens doors to opportunities in arts administration and management careers.
