The Studio Art Bachelor of Arts program enables students to investigate one or multiple studio disciplines, such as ceramics, jewelry design, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture, fostering a blended approach that integrates artistic passions with broader liberal arts learning into modern studio practice. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art offers six specialized tracks: ceramics, metals, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Those pursuing a B.A. develop proficiency in visual arts, acquiring critical thinking abilities, conceptual depth, technical mastery, and methodologies to examine intellectual and human experiences through artistic expression. B.F.A. candidates focus intensely on selected studio disciplines, mastering both traditional craftsmanship and emerging techniques while building a professional portfolio for careers or advanced study. (Note: Students may not earn both the BA and BFA in Studio Art.)
Studio art alumni pursue diverse career paths. Many establish themselves as practicing artists—working as art directors, digital designers, illustrators, photographers, or craftspeople in metals, ceramics, or other media. Others continue to graduate studies, preparing for roles as educators, art therapists, curators, or arts writers.
For aspiring painters, our curriculum explores painting materials and conceptual frameworks while grounding students in traditional approaches through still life, landscape, and figure studies. The program exposes students to contemporary visual concepts essential for understanding artistic form and meaning, treating painting both as historical tradition and evolving practice. Our faculty consists of active exhibiting artists offering diverse perspectives through personalized mentorship, regular critiques, and growing emphasis on individual artistic vision as students progress. Graduates pursue advanced study, gallery/museum careers, exhibitions, and competitions.
