Zoology is the scientific discipline dedicated to animal research. The zoology program offers flexibility for students pursuing careers in health sciences, animal physiology, cellular and molecular biology, ecology, environmental studies, or evolutionary biology. Students can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science while completing this major. While double majors in Botany and Zoology are permitted, only nine credits from Advanced Hours can count toward both degrees. Note that combining Biology and Zoology as double majors is not allowed. The program allows customization for various interests, including health sciences, molecular biology, ecology, environmental science, or evolutionary studies. Faculty members mentor students through research projects in cutting-edge facilities, scientific publications, and professional internships.
Graduates entering the workforce directly secure roles across diverse sectors. Alumni hold positions such as wildlife specialist, park ranger, pathology assistant, laboratory analyst, scientific sales representative, research associate, museum collections manager, aquatic resources coordinator, urban planner, zoo caretaker, environmental assessment specialist, and secondary school biology instructor.
