Political science is a social science discipline focused on the study of governance and political systems. Our department boasts over two dozen dedicated faculty members, offering a wide variety of courses that showcase our professors' diverse specialties. Students pursuing political science often participate in research projects, study abroad programs, and gain admission to prestigious law schools. Our curriculum encompasses fundamental topics in political studies, featuring classes on the U.S. political system (covering constitutional rights, the presidency, legislative processes, political parties, and voter behavior), Global Affairs (including international relations, diplomacy, and foreign policy), Comparative Government (examining political structures across continents like Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and Asia), Political Theory, and Public Policy.
We equip students for successful futures in both academia and professional fields, while fostering engaged citizenship. Graduates frequently continue their education at elite graduate programs or enter diverse careers in business, diplomacy, military service, government agencies, law enforcement, advocacy, and non-profit sectors. Our distinguished alumni network includes congressional representatives, White House staff, international diplomats, and academic leaders such as university presidents, deans, and department heads.
