Established in 1983, the MSRED stands as the pioneering one-year graduate program in real estate development and the most intensive, research-driven real estate degree available. Learners thrive within CRE's distinctive network that bridges academic inquiry with professional collaboration, enabling them to implement innovative solutions to real-world challenges through efficient, fair, and imaginative approaches. MSRED participants acquire essential competencies needed to excel in the dynamic international real estate market while anchoring their work in principles of social responsibility, economic viability, and ecological stewardship.
Leveraging expertise from MIT's School of Architecture and Urban Planning, School of Engineering, Economics Department, and Sloan School of Management, the MSRED provides focused training that extends beyond conventional MBA offerings. Unlike standard two-year graduate programs that often dedicate initial years to general business studies before specializing in real estate, this program offers immediate concentration.
To be admitted as a regular graduate student, an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of acceptable standing. Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on the condition that their bachelor’s degree is awarded before they enroll at MIT.
