The DMSE provides an intensive master's program that gives students thorough knowledge of materials science fundamentals and their practical uses, preparing them to excel in areas like energy, nanotechnology, and cutting-edge manufacturing. DMSE awards both a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering (with departmental specialization) and a Master of Science as Recommended by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (non-specialized).
To be admitted as a regular graduate student, an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of acceptable standing. Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on the condition that their bachelor’s degree is awarded before they enroll at MIT.
The minimum score required for the IELTS is 7 and the minimum score for TOEFL is 100 (iBT) 600 (PBT).
