The Master of Science is a two-year program emphasizing research, concluding with a thesis project. This advanced degree equips graduates for higher-level professional roles and serves as a stepping stone toward PhD programs. To earn the degree, students must complete 66 credit units, including 34 within their department, along with an original research thesis.
To be admitted as a regular graduate student, an applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of acceptable standing. Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on the condition that their bachelor’s degree is awarded before they enroll at MIT.
The minimum score required for the IELTS is 7.5 and the minimum score for TOEFL is 100 (iBT) 600 (PBT).
