Our Space Systems Engineering program aims to equip students with core knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and tools needed to convert technical, economic, and societal needs into comprehensive space system solutions. To excel as a space systems engineer, proficiency in satellite subsystems and spacecraft technologies is essential. A key responsibility for practicing systems engineers involves evaluating different architectural options and aligning requirements with stakeholders like customers, program managers, and subsystem teams. Specialized expertise in at least one subsystem area—such as controls, structures, software and autonomy, or payload engineering (including optics or RF communications)—is crucial for gaining trust, credibility, and mastery of space systems terminology.
