This program, alternatively called the Language and Mind Program, equips students with practical understanding of key topics at the crossroads of philosophy, linguistics, and cognitive science. Core focus areas include language's fundamental nature, mental representations like knowledge and belief, and the innate foundations for acquiring specific knowledge types (particularly linguistic knowledge). Students can choose between two specialization paths: philosophy or linguistics. Both paths share foundational courses from both disciplines, covering essential concepts in language study and knowledge representation. Each specialization also includes discipline-specific courses to prepare students for advanced studies in either philosophy/cognitive science or linguistics. The curriculum is completed with three focused electives selected from linguistics, philosophy, or related fields, allowing for a tailored academic experience.
The first-year application is intended for students who have concluded their secondary education and wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree as a full-time university student.
