Marquette University provides one of the top political science master's programs in the nation. This challenging yet adaptable curriculum equips students for advanced academic pursuits, legal education, or careers in government and NGOs requiring political and policy expertise. Marquette offers several dual degree pathways. The accelerated track allows undergraduates to complete both bachelor's and master's degrees in just five years, offering substantial time and cost savings. Through collaboration with the Law School, students can pursue concurrent MA in Political Science and Juris Doctor degrees.
Prospective dual degree candidates must apply separately to both the Graduate School and Law School, meeting each institution's admission standards. Notably, LSAT results may substitute for GRE scores in the Graduate School application. Students begin this joint program through the Law School, transitioning to political science coursework after completing their legal studies.
The dual program requires 81 law credits, 21 political science credits, and 9 shared credits. JD holders applying for the MA program may transfer up to 9 law credits toward their political science degree requirements.
Tuition structure varies by enrollment status: full-time law students pay flat-rate Law School tuition regardless of additional graduate coursework. After earning their JD, students pay per-credit Graduate School rates for remaining courses. Part-time law students are charged per-credit Law School rates throughout their enrollment.
