The Chemistry Department provides exceptional research and academic experiences through its graduate programs, culminating in either a Master of Science or Ph.D. degree. At the core of graduate studies is original research performed under faculty guidance. To earn a degree, students must complete 24 credit hours of coursework, with Ph.D. candidates progressing after successfully presenting a literature seminar (4th semester) and research symposium (5th semester). The curriculum focuses on cultivating well-rounded scientific professionals. Research specialties within the department encompass: photochemistry, molecular spectroscopy, pharmaceutical chemistry and drug development, nanomaterials and nanotechnology, organometallic compounds, physical organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, polymer science, computational chemistry, and reaction kinetics.
