Computer Science students pursuing a professional path have the option to merge their undergraduate studies with an extra year to earn both a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Computing within five years. This accelerated program allows students to deepen their technical expertise by completing 24 extra credits in subjects spanning computer science, information technology, computer engineering, and information systems—the five core areas of computing. Eligible students may apply to the Graduate School for the M.S. in Computing program after completing their second year. The department offers numerous upper-level courses that count for both undergraduate and graduate credit. Graduate-level versions of these courses feature stricter grading standards and supplementary assignments. Participants in the five-year program enroll in these graduate courses to satisfy four of their upper-division elective requirements for the Computer Science major.
