To witness the influence economists wield, observe how financial markets react whenever the Federal Reserve Chair addresses the nation about economic conditions. These professionals study how people interact with systems of production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, while examining employment trends and the efficient allocation of limited resources. Through economic analysis, experts develop solutions for commercial and social challenges, ultimately enhancing quality of life. Marquette University offers two distinct economics programs: traditional economics and business economics. While global economic effects can be studied without leaving campus (though international experiences are encouraged), our Center for Applied Economics and Applied Global Business Learning initiative provide hands-on understanding. The latter program, detailed here, enables students to implement business knowledge in practical scenarios across emerging economies. Faculty members instruct all economics courses, with the added benefit that these educators are prominent scholars who maintain their expertise through publications in leading economic journals and advisory roles with global corporations and government agencies. Economics students gain practical exposure by collaborating with Milwaukee-area organizations such as Rockwell Automation, Johnson Controls, the Milwaukee Brewers, MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual, Robert W. Baird, Associated Bank, and the Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation.
