The program provides associate and bachelor's degree options along with a post-baccalaureate certificate, which can be finished in one year of full-time enrollment. Graduates enjoy strong employment placement at leading law firms, corporations, and courts in the Metro area, thanks to the mandatory internship component. Having maintained ABA accreditation since 1984, the program boasts an exceptional standing within the legal profession. Students benefit from adaptable scheduling, with only 9 semester hours of legal specialty courses needing in-person instruction. All courses are led by practicing attorneys with substantial experience. Bachelor's degree completion options are available both at Macomb University Center in Clinton Township, Michigan, and through online platforms. It's important to note that completing the degree or certificate does not qualify graduates to practice law or offer legal services directly to clients, except where legally permitted. The Paralegal Studies Program aims to develop highly skilled, versatile professionals capable of supporting attorneys across diverse legal fields. Combining practical paralegal training with liberal arts education, the program equips graduates to meet the needs of today's multicultural society. A unique feature includes specialized training for B.S.N-prepared nurses transitioning into nurse paralegal roles. As a rigorous undergraduate program, it serves as exceptional preparation for law school, particularly through its legal research and writing curriculum that thoroughly prepares students for their first year of legal studies.
