Loyola's Institute of Pastoral Studies (IPS) provides a Master of Divinity (MDiv) program tailored to fulfill the educational, developmental, and vocational requirements of individuals pursuing ministerial leadership roles. This curriculum equips you with broad ministerial expertise rooted in Christian traditions while cultivating the interpersonal and spiritual competencies needed to inspire others. The MDiv program additionally allows for customized concentration areas to specialize in specific ministry contexts.
Upon earning the Master of Divinity degree, graduates will demonstrate:
Proficiency in analyzing pastoral situations through the lenses of scripture, tradition, and human sciences (Theology/Religious Heritage), Competence in addressing contemporary social, economic, political, and church realities to navigate evolving ministry demands (Cultural Context), Capacity to approach Christian faith, discipleship, and ministry with personal, spiritual, and ecclesiastical wisdom (Maturity/Personal Formation)

To be eligible for admission, your transcript must show an earned bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree in progress. Certified copies of transcripts are acceptable, faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts, we have them on record. Copies of transcripts or transcripts not received in a sealed envelope from the university are considered unofficial. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts. We strongly encourage electronic submission of documents. Official transcripts should show a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In exceptional cases, applicants whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be admitted.
