Loyola University Chicago provides Master's students with a distinctive chance to earn concurrent degrees in Theology and Women's Studies and Gender Studies. By pursuing both MA programs simultaneously, students can accelerate their progress through shared coursework that counts toward both disciplines. This dual degree option requires 36 semester hours, fulfilling the existing MA requirements for both fields. The program highlights the interdisciplinary connections between Theology and Women's/Gender Studies, leveraging faculty expertise in gender, sexuality, religion, and ethics. Notably, Loyola stands as the sole Jesuit institution offering a graduate-level Women's Studies degree. Prospective students must apply to both programs separately and gain admission based on each department's standards, with no special exceptions for dual degree seekers. After acceptance into both programs, candidates can formally request dual degree status through program liaisons. Students will collaborate with both graduate directors to plan their coursework and meet all requirements. While many complete both degrees within two years, the program offers flexibility to accommodate individual needs, interests, and course availability.
