The English Department provides an accelerated five-year BA/MA combined degree program (with potential completion in four years under certain conditions). This initiative enables high-achieving undergraduate students to fast-track their graduate studies.
This innovative program grants exceptional undergraduates entry to our prestigious graduate offerings, leveraging our department's academic excellence. It equips English majors with valuable professional experience, enhancing their prospects for PhD applications, teaching roles, or careers in writing, literary analysis, or educational leadership. Alongside standard BA requirements, participants gain advanced research training through graduate-level coursework, including the foundational ENGL 400: Introduction to Graduate Studies. Additionally, they may substitute the undergraduate capstone (ENGL 390) with a graduate seminar.
