Loyola University's music program welcomes students from diverse backgrounds to explore numerous performance and academic opportunities. Situated in one of the globe's most dynamic musical hubs and staffed by a passionate, acclaimed faculty, Loyola's Music program delivers intensive training for aspiring professionals while fostering an inclusive space for non-majors to enrich their college journey. The Bachelor of Arts in Music (B.A. in Music) requires completion of 42 credit hours, blending Music Theory, Music History and Literature, individualized applied courses, ensemble participation, and elective options. Students pursuing the B.A. in Music can specialize in Jazz Studies, Liturgical Music, or Vocal Performance.
Alumni of Loyola's music program have launched successful careers as performers, educators, composers, arrangers, conductors, studio musicians, and arts administrators. Those specializing in Jazz Studies have found opportunities across jazz and related genres, while Liturgical Music graduates gain hands-on experience collaborating with religious leaders, choirs, and congregations to become future church music directors. The Vocal Performance concentration equips students for careers as performers, educators, music therapists, arts administrators, and choir directors. Additionally, Loyola's B.A. in Music provides strong preparation for graduate studies, with many graduates continuing their education at prestigious music institutions nationwide.
