Loyola's multimedia journalism program immerses students in the evolving challenges of modern media, addressing topics like newspaper industry shifts, emerging digital platforms, immersive technologies, and misinformation. Rooted in Jesuit principles, the curriculum emphasizes ethical reporting while preparing students for a dynamic media environment. Journalism majors develop core competencies including investigative techniques, source interviews, news gathering, and storytelling across formats. Through state-of-the-art facilities like the Convergence Studio, Owl Lab, and WLUW radio station, students work with cutting-edge tools and broadcasting equipment. Classes take place at Loyola's Water Tower Campus in downtown Chicago. Beyond campus publications like The Phoenix student newspaper, opportunities include internships with leading Chicago media organizations such as the Tribune, Sun-Times, WLS, and WMAQ, plus corporate, nonprofit, and agency placements.
