The Chemistry Department provides robust academic programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Students can pursue ACS-accredited BS degrees in Chemistry or Biochemistry, along with BA degrees and chemistry minors. Many chemistry undergraduates join the American Chemical Society's student chapter. The department also offers abundant undergraduate research opportunities, actively encouraging students to engage in faculty-led research initiatives.
Upon completing their Chemistry or Biochemistry undergraduate major, graduates will be capable of: responding to knowledge-based questions about core chemical principles and showing proficiency with essential concepts, terminology, and theories across chemistry's diverse disciplines.
comprehending and explaining chemistry's role in biological processes, environmental systems, and cosmic phenomena.
locating, studying, integrating, and critically assessing scientific publications.
developing and executing experimental procedures to test hypotheses, collect data, analyze findings, and interpret outcomes. utilizing cutting-edge instrumentation employed by chemistry and biochemistry professionals.
