The Master of Science in Civil Engineering program is designed to equip working professionals and graduates with science or engineering backgrounds who seek an advanced degree, providing them with enhanced knowledge of the fundamental concepts needed to address modern environmental challenges. This program prepares students to sustainably oversee water and infrastructure resources for coming generations. Through our career-focused evening master's curriculum, students can specialize in: Environmental Engineering, emphasizing cutting-edge, sustainable methods to enhance and safeguard water quality in both urban and natural environments by efficiently controlling pollution sources; and Water Resources Engineering, focusing on sustainable stewardship, theoretical frameworks, and modeling of hydrological cycles in natural ecosystems, as well as urban water distribution, storage, and flood mitigation systems.

Qualification Requirements

The minimum GPA is 3.0
All applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree or higher-level degree and have successfully completed the following courses:

Calculus, at least one year of college-level
General Chemistry, at least one college-level course
Life and physical science totaling at least four college-level courses, which could include biology, chemistry, environmental science, or physics.
Applicants with a non-Bachelor of Science undergraduate or postgraduate degree may be considered if the applicant has completed the above coursework prior to applying.
The department may require applicants who lack an adequate background in mathematics, chemistry, and/or science to take additional courses prior to being admitted into the program or continuing in the program. Additional admission requirements may be set by the department upon review of the applicant's academic and professional preparation.

A letter of intent (approximately 1.5 pages) describing the candidate's background, career goals, and interest in the program
Two letters of recommendation attesting to the candidate's ability to succeed in the graduate program based on previous academic and/or professional performance
The GRE is not required for admission into the Civil Engineering Master's Program.
College of Science and Engineering requires a minimum TOEFL score of 79 internet-based, IELTS Overall Band Score of 6.5.
