Intellectual Property (IP) stands as one of the most vibrant and rapidly expanding legal fields, accounting for approximately 20% of the U.S. economy. The rise of technology and social platforms has accelerated content dissemination to countless mobile devices, computers, and tablets worldwide, generating novel legal challenges daily. Legal professionals—whether solo practitioners, corporate counsel, or attorneys in major firms handling transactions or litigation—will encounter IP matters with growing frequency. Students focusing on IP will gain essential skills for thriving in the 21st-century knowledge-driven marketplace.
Certain courses within the IP Concentration may overlap with other specializations (such as Entertainment & Media Law or Business Law). Although students can pursue dual Concentrations by meeting each program's criteria, they must complete distinct experiential requirements for both. Approval from the Director of Concentrations is mandatory before enrolling in two separate Concentrations.
