The Master of Social Work degree demonstrates a graduate's readiness for professional social work practice and attainment of skills necessary for a successful career. The LSU School of Social Work, accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), has provided graduate education since 1937. At the Baton Rouge main campus, students can pursue either the 60-hour full-time or part-time programs, or the 33-hour advanced standing option. Applications for the 60-hour program are due by March 31st annually, while advanced standing applications must be submitted by March 1st. Advanced standing This accelerated program can be finished in one year full-time or two years part-time (with on-campus classes held Mondays and Tuesdays). Eligibility is limited to students who earned a BSW degree within the past five years from a CSWE-accredited program with qualifying grades, allowing them to transfer up to 27 credits toward their MSW degree.
