The Department of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness provides an M.S. degree program with three specialization tracks: Agribusiness Management, Natural Resource and Environmental Policy, and Agricultural Economics (refer to Tables 1-3 in the Graduate Student Handbook). Each track offers both thesis (research-based) and non-thesis pathways.
Curriculum requirements for all three specializations include mandatory core courses alongside additional coursework to fulfill degree criteria. The thesis pathway demands at least 33 semester hours, with six hours allocated to thesis work. Agribusiness Management students need to complete 18 hours of core classes, 9 hours of approved electives, and 6 thesis research hours. Additionally, they must undertake an Agribusiness Internship, selected in consultation with their advisor to align with both thesis goals and professional aspirations.
Natural Resource and Environmental Policy students must fulfill 18 hours of required coursework, 9 elective hours, and 6 thesis research hours. Similarly, Agricultural Economics students complete 18 required hours, 9 elective hours, and 6 thesis research hours.
A minimum of half the Graduate School's course requirements must be at the 7000-level or higher. Thesis candidates must also produce an approved thesis and pass a final oral examination successfully.
